Tips and Tricks on How to Throw a Kid’s Birthday Party

You may think that throwing a kid’s birthday party is just a walk through the park, but honestly, it is not just about spending money that is the key but a lot of things to consider and here are some tips and tricks on how to throw a children’s party.

Take note that the best children’s party is the one that had the most fun and not just because of pageantry and pomp, but the one that is the most memorable for the kid who celebrated his or her birthday.

Here are some tips and tricks to organize a children’s party.

Tip number 1 – Plan ahead.

You can plan a children’s party even several months before the actual date of the event.

This will give you more time to plan for the activities, as well as the flow of the activity itself.

Planning ahead will also give you the option to make your choices about what kinds of food to prepare, send out invitations and give them ample time to also prepare should you require guests to come in based on a theme-related party.

You will also be able to have adequate time to save up for the party, especially if you think you would like to spend a little bit more than usual or if you may have had spent your money on an emergency or an urgent matter that needed you to use part of the savings you put up for the party.

Tip Number 2 – Set a budget.

It does not mean that you have to be stingy or count every single penny you spend for the party, but it would be wise to know how much you are going to spend, how much you can spare from your savings or how much you can set for contingencies.

Setting a budget would allow you the freedom to make the right choices for the children’s party you are going to prepare.

When making your budget for the event here are some things to consider.

Try to make a list of the foods that you are going to prepare, be it cupcakes, soda, candies, cake, etc. as long as it costs money, it needs to be on that list.

Make a list of the guests you are going to invite for the party, this will also help you estimate the amount or volume of food you need to prepare for the party.

Tip Number 3 – Make use of disposable items for the party.

Don’t try to think it cheeky or cheap when you plan to use disposable paper plates and utensils for the party.

Have you ever gone shopping for party items nowadays? Party favors and novelty items, especially party utensils are now creatively crafted and appeal better to kids than the usual household plates and utensils.

This would also help you protect your household dining sets as well as lessen the incidence of damaging your breakable kitchen and dining utensils.

Tip number 4 –  Ask the kid what he or she wants for her birthday

This will make the party the most memorable one for your child, since they will be able to relate to the party the way en envisioned it to be.

Not only will it be fun for them, it will also be a good sense of fulfillment for you, after all, the one who celebrates his or her birthday gets to be the happiest one and you were responsible for it.

So, hope you learned something from these tips and tricks on how to throw a children’s party, so go and have fun.

Things You Should Know When Things You Should Know When Planning Your Baby’s First Year Party

The first birthday is a big deal for many parents. Since you want to make this experience memorable, here are a few things you should know when planning the first year kiddie party.

Every kiddie party must have activities and games.

A child’s first birthday party is a very special time. The funny part is that because your child is still a year old, he or she won’t be able to do anything so the ones who are participating will just be the guests. So you don’t have to spend too much, it is best to make the party fairly short. If you can make this under an hour or two, that is perfectly alright.

One problem often faced by parents in a party is that the baby could be asleep during the party or it gets cranky. Since you want your baby to be awake during this time, you better schedule the party in between their nap time.

If money is a bit of a problem during this economic time, invite only a few guests like only family members and friends. This will give you time to show the baby around to them.

Instead of having the party done in a restaurant that will surely offer you a package deal, why don’t you have the party at home? Your baby could be overwhelmed by the place and the number of guests so this should be done with a small group and in a place where they are comfortable.

Do you have to think of a theme for your first birthday party? Not really but if you want to, there is no harm in choosing one. If you have nephews and nieces, try to find out what is the trend these days among kids so you are still in touch with their generation.

From there, you can already source the materials you will need like party hats, invitations, souvenir cards, prizes and a host of other things for the party.

The smaller the kid is, the more presents they get. If you don’t think this is true, try and remember the last time you ever received a load of presents? When your kid is opening each present, give them some time to look at each one before moving on to the next. A great idea will be to open these in batches so your kid is not stressed out.

Your kid will only celebrate their first birthday once so be sure to take lots of pictures and video. If you are tied up with other things, delegate the task so you can review it when the party is over. Also, have a memory page for your guests to write on. That way, your kid can look back at their first party even if they don’t remember what happened that day.

Now that you more or less know what do for your infant’s first kiddie birthday party, you won’t have to worry about how much it costs, what is the theme, when and where it should take place and the time that this will be done.

If you need help, ask your other family members because they will be more than happy to help you make this celebration a memorable one.

Themes for Kids Birthday Parties - kids birthday party themes

One of the most enjoyable parts in preparing for a kids birthday party is coming up with the theme. Generally, the theme of the party will depend on the age of the child. For those who are younger kids, ages 1 to 2, it would be best to come up with themes where almost all kids can relate. For toddlers and older kids who are able to decide what they would want for their parties, it is best to base the theme on their favorite cartoon characters and the like.

Tips in choosing themes

For parents, it can be hard to decide on a theme that will suit their kids best. If you are one of those who are having a hard time choosing what theme to use, here are some tips for you:

1. Conduct a simple research. This can be done by reading kiddie magazines that feature birthday themes for each age bracket or can be done by surfing the net and search for sites that offer theme ideas for kids birthday parties. Here, you will have a wide array of choices for your child and you will know how to prepare for it.

2. Know the most popular themes for kids birthday parties for the year. This is the safest way to go about choosing a theme since your child's party will be up to date. You can get updates on the popular themes by watching shows that feature kids birthday parties or also by checking it on the Internet.

3. Choose a common theme and make your own variations. There are so many common themes for kids birthday parties these days. But if you want to be unique, you can make your own variations to suit your child's personality. You  can also mix two or more themes and come up with a new one that will definitely be a surefire hit to the guests regardless of their ages.

4. Pick a theme that would suit your kid's personality. As a parent, you somehow know what your child's personality is like. To make sure that he or she will enjoy the party, choose a theme that will tell about his or her individuality. In this way, you are also introducing your child's personality to the community he or she belongs.

5. Make sure that the theme of the party is appropriate for the child's age and gender. This is very important because it will ensure that the child would enjoy the party. To avoid him or her feel awkward, make sure that the theme is suited for his or her age as well to the gender.

For boys, the most common themes being used include a "Sports party" where younger boys can incorporate their favorite spots in the activities, the "Pirate party" where little boys can act like pirates in a pirate ship inspired venue, and a "Farm party" where boys can experience how it is like to live in farm by preparing foods and decorating the venue like a real farm.

For little girls, the most popular theme would be the "Princess party" where the celebrator is dressed like an olden day princess and the venue is decorated like a castle, "Pop star party" where younger girls can imitate and dress up like their favorite pop stars, or an "Arts and Crafts party" where older girls can enjoy making crafts as part of the activities during the kids birthday party.

Supplies Needed for Kids Birthday Parties

A kids birthday party would not be complete without the supplies needed. This is because the party supplies are the ones that will make the party more lively, exciting, and enjoyable for the birthday celebrator as well as for the guests.

Nowadays, there are so many one-stop-stores that offer almost all the supplies you need to pull off a kids birthday party. But since many of them would encourage you to buy as many items as possible, it is best if you have a list of the things that you really need. Aside from avoiding confusion, having a list of the supplies you need can also help you save money since you will only be buying the items that you really need. The following is a simple list of the supplies needed for a kids birthday party:

1. Invites and Thank you notes. These are the basic supplies you need for a kids birthday party simply because without these, no one will be informed about the party and there is no way that you can thank the attendees after the party. Today, there are so many ready made invitations and thank you notes that can match almost any theme you have in mind. These come in different sizes, colors, shapes, designs, and volume depending on your need and the number of guests you will be inviting. But, if you want to veer away from the common invites and thank you notes, you can make your very own using different colored papers, acetates, and frillings that you can attach on them.

2. Decorations for the party venue. If you are planning to hold the party at the comforts of your own home, you are in charge of decorating the place. Decorations will depend on the theme of the party. But, no matter what the theme is, make sure that the decorations are colorful and lively since this is a kids birthday party. To add more zest to the party, include banners, centerpieces, hats, blowers, and candles that match the theme. You can also make streamers that would welcome the guests to the venue. If you rented the venue, ask the owner to take charge of the decorations. You can give specific instructions so the decoration of the venue will fit the theme.

3. Party favors to be given away. After the party, it has been a tradition to give favors to those who have attended it. Giving party favors is one of the ways of thanking the guests for taking the time off and celebrate with you. Party favors will also depend on the theme of the party. Party favors may contain souvenirs, goodies such as candies and chocolates, as well as toys and other treats that kids usually enjoy.

4. Party ware to be used during the party. If you are holding the party at home, it is best to chose party wares such as plates, utensils, glasses and even napkins to suit the theme. In stores, you can choose from a wide variety of selections. The good thing about these options is that you can mix and match the items that you will be using.

Other supplies needed for kids birthday parties include balloons that come in many colors, shapes, and sizes depending on the theme, piñatas that can be a favorite cartoon character or toy, and crafts needed for the games during the party.

Sewing Costumes for Kids Birthday Parties

Wearing a costume during kids birthday parties is one of the most precious memories any child could ever have. This is because she or he will be able to attend a happy party, join other kids in activities and games, and boast to other kids that his or her parents had sewn him or her costume especially for this occasion.

For a parent, this is also an equally exciting and touching gesture they can make for their child. If you are one of those parents who are trying to sew a costume either for a child who is about to celebrate his or her birthday party or for a child who is going to attend one, here are some tips for you.

1. Work on the sewing style that you are comfortable with. For beginners, one of the most important things to consider is the type of sewing that he or she wishes to do. Usually, sewing is done using the hand alone because this gives personal touch and displays the sewer's talent in sewing. But, since the sewing machine is now available to make the work easier, faster, accurate, and convenient more and more people prefer using it. For hand or machine sewing, you need tools such as different types of needles and threads.

2. Determine what type of costume you will be sewing for your child. Once you have decided whether you will be sewing by hand or by machine, now is the time to consider what is costume itself. You can base the costume from the theme of the party itself or ask your child what he or she wants to wear. The most common costumes for kids birthday parties among boys include "Old West Sheriff" which is easy to make and comfortable when worn; the "Captain Jack Sparrow" the ultimate pirate costume; "Zorro" which is ideal for kids regardless of size, age, and height; and "Harry Potter" costume which is more modern as popularized by the Harry Potter movies.

For little ladies, the most popular kids birthday party costumes are the "Grecian Princess" which transforms the child to a pretty Grecian goddesses; the "Pirate Lass" the counterpart of Jack Sparrow costume; "Woodland Fairy" which is a safe yet amazing fantasy costume; and the "Can Can Dancer" which is fun and pretty to look at once worn by little girls.

3. Choose safe fabrics for the kids. After deciding what will you be sewing and the costume design, make sure that you also put much attention to the type of fabric that you will be using. Since the clothing will be for kids, the most common fabrics used are made of cotton because this is hypoallergenic, strong, and easy to work on compared to other types of fabrics. But, you may also opt for other synthetic fabric types for curtains and mates such as wool, silk, satin, and others depending on the type of clothes or items you will be sewing.

Although you can buy ready made costumes for kids birthday parties, it is best if you take time and effort in making one for your little one. Aside from saving money since you will be the one to choose the materials you will use and ensuring the uniqueness of the costume, you can also use the sewing time as a bonding time for your and your child.

Scrap Booking after Kids Birthday Party

A kids birthday party is one of the most memorable experiences any child could ever have. Since this is a special moment, the memories during this celebration should be preserved because these will remind the child of the good experiences he or she had during the younger years. In order to preserve good memories and experiences, more and more parents encourage their children to create their own scrapbooks at such an early age so they can keep their childhood memories intact.

Indeed, birthdays are one of the most fun events that people can make a scrapbook of. Experts say that scrap booking is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways of keeping birthday celebration memories safe and fun to look at.

By collecting and keeping bits and pieces of memories during the birthday celebration, a child can create and tell a story. Aside from these, children can also use scrap booking as a learning experience because this can teach them the value of resourcefulness, creativity, patience, and perseverance.

A great way to keep memories

For parents, scrap booking is one of the most enjoyable activities they can share with their kids especially after the birthday celebration where every moment is fresh in the child's mind. Aside from being a bonding time with kids, scrap booking can also be a post-birthday activity for the child with his or her friends since they are the very characters present during the celebration.

Although, scrap booking is a nice activity, parents must make sure that they teach their kids the basic of arts and crafts so no materials will be wasted. Parents should also:

• see the inclination of their children. It is important to consider the interest of the child in the craft. If your child is one of those who are into arts and into collecting mementos to create another work of art. Then she or he is the perfect candidate for the activity because she/he already has the drive and the creativity to create another masterpiece. But if your child is not yet interested with crafts and arts, it doesn’t mean he/she cannot indulge into scrapbooking. In fact, this is the perfect time to introduce him/her into a new world of exciting and enjoyable activity.

• consider the availability of space. Since scrap booking can be a messy activity, it is a must to have a space large enough for kids to do the activity. Since scrapbooking requires a lot of materials, you will need a space big enough for them to sprawl and to scatter the materials they will use for making the scrapbook. It is advisable that you provide a space where kids can do their scrapbook and a place where they can leave their stuff.

• know the amount of materials your child will need. Since you are about to teach the basics of scrap booking for a kids birthday party, you will need the materials which you can find in the four walls of your house.

Here’s a quick list of the materials and supplies your kid needs: paper or scrapbook paper, pens and colored pencils, photos, scrapbooking die-cuts and cut-outs, scrapbooking tools such as punchers, scissors, rulers, stamps, adhesives and removers, stickers of different designs, templates, embellishments such as eyelets, brads, nails and tacks, colored and specialty papers, and scrapbook apparels such as scrapbook kits for starters.

Preparing For A Kid's Birthday Party - kids birthday party menu

Preparing for a kid's birthday party should take about a month's worth in order to ensure that everything goes smoothly. There are certain things that may need to be prepared a good three to four weeks before the actual party. An example would be renting a venue or preparing the menu for the party as well as the program. The couple or so days before the actual party should be reserved for trying to double check things. All the other preparation should be done prior to it.

Two Days Before The Party
Since most of the things have already been well taken cared of, checking out the smaller tasks would be foremost in the tasks at hand two days prior to the birthday party. One of the important small ones include checking for things such as camera and batteries. Surely no parent would want go through any kid's birthday party without a good quality camera to capture those memorable moments. Checking the camera condition as well as the batteries may be a small matter for some. But it is something that should not be left out in any birthday party preparation.

Confirmation for rented equipment should also be done two days before the party. The reason for this is to make the schedule and the time clear with the rented equipment owner just to make sure that the plans are well understood on both sides. It might also be a good addition to prepare additional garbage bags as well as plastic wrap that will always come in handy at any birthday party.

A Day Before The Party
So, the party is just a day away and the parents should now be making only the final preparations. Make sure that the bathrooms are made clean and sanitary. Possible outdoor playing areas should be cleaned and then cleared of any hazards. Parents can then do some last-minute touch ups to the decorations.

Set out every thing that is needed for the party in a single allocated area. Things such as game and activity materials should be arranged in an organized manner to make them easier to locate and use during the party proper. If flowers are needed, the floral arrangements can be made and ordered a day prior to the party. If the party involves having a caterer, confirmation of the schedule should also be made to clear things up.

Hours Before Party
The early hours prior to the party can be made by giving the checklist another run. After that, the next things to prepare would be keeping everything well organized and confirmed. It is usually just several hours before the party that ordered balloons, cake and ice for the birthday party can be picked up. Considering that these are easily perishable goods make it a wise idea to get them on the day of the party itself.

If the setting in on the outdoors, decorations for the party are usually made also hours before on the day of the kid's birthday party. The party area should be set up as well as the other allocated activity areas such as the place where the kids would be playing their games. If there are pets in the house, it would also be a good idea to have them well secured in a safe area to avoid possible pet-induced confusion and chaos later on.

If there is time left, a second and final look at the checklist would allow parents to make sure that everything is ok. The last thing to do prior to the kid's birthday party is to wear a smile and enjoy the festivities.

Planning Tips for Kids Birthday Parties

For parents, their kids birthday parties are among the most important events in their parenthood. This is because they get to show their kids how much they love them by preparing some thing for their special day.

If you are one of those parents whose child's birthday is just around the corner, then you should be having ideas what to do for the celebration by now. Although organizing a party can be tiresome and stressful, parents should not be discouraged to prepare one for their kids because this will mean a lot to the child especially when he or she is older. Aside from being one way of showing your love and affection, organizing a birthday party for the child can also contribute so much to his or her outlook in life and to the boosting of his or her confidence as well.

Easy ways to organize kids birthday parties

Just like in many things, planning is the main key to make any endeavor successful. To ensure that your child will be having an enjoyable and hassle free birthday party, make sure that you plan way ahead.

Experts say that planning for a kids birthday party should start as early as one moth before the exact date of the party. This is because the more time one has, the better she or he can think of ways on how to make the party more successful and wonderful. If you plan this early, you can get the best location, the best cake, and the confirmation of the guests who you plan to invite.

Think of a theme. If your child is old enough to pick a theme for his or her kids birthday party, them allow him to her to do so. This is important to ensure that the celebrator will enjoy the party. This is also one good way of asking help from the child in the things that need preparation. For younger children, choose a general theme that kids of all ages can relate to such as fairy land and castles for girls and pirate theme for boys. If you have a theme this early, there will be more time for you to choose decorations and even costumes for the party.

Pick a venue and set the time. To do this, you can get a consensus from the guests you are planning to invite. It is a must that you consider their respective schedules so you can come up with one that is convenient to all of them. The same goes when picking a venue. Don’t choose a location where parents and other guests will be a hard time finding.

Try to make and send birthday party invitations the soonest possible time. Once you have a theme, location and time, you are ready to make the invitations. You can create your own invitations depending on the theme of the party or you can just but ready made one to save some time. It is a must that you send these early and as for an RSVP so you will know how many guests to expect. In inviting for kids birthday party, it is not necessary to invite everyone.

Just invite those that are immediate family members like cousins, playmates, and classmates as well as teachers of the child if he or she is already in school.

Pave the Way for Art during Kids Birthday Parties

Tired of the usual theme for kids birthday party? Then try an "art class type" birthday party theme for a change. This will work especially if the birthday celebrator and his or her friends are also into art and craft works.

Since kids love attending birthday parties, this is the best time to introduce to them the beauty of art so they will develop a love for it this early. Having art class as a theme is good for the young attendees because it raises children’s level of awareness of the art around them as well as the art they can produce themselves.

The art theme

An art theme for a kids birthday party can be easy to organize. All you need is a room where little tables and chairs can be arranged so the kids will have a place for their art pieces.

Art can be incorporated during the birthday party as one of the activities that kids can do while waiting for the food to be served or after they have eaten their meals and greeted the birthday celebrator.

Having an art class as a theme can also help parents save some money because they will just have to provide all kinds of papers and boards—construction paper, tissue papers, drawing paper, watercolor paper, poster boards, foam core, and others.

When it comes to drawing materials, you can provide paints such as tempera, watercolors, acrylics, oil paints, fabric paints and dyes along with palettes and brushes for the kids to use. Other alternatives may also include printing materials such as blocks, inks, papers, frames of all sizes and styles, and precut mats, kits, including a lovely book binding kit to make three Japanese style books, clay, paper mache, glues, paste and craft materials for collage.

To avoid too much clutter during the art themed party, make sure that you:

• cover the painting area with a waterproof covering or old newspapers

• provide an overall or old clothes to protect their clothing

• instead of using stamp for block painting, substitute a small sponge,  a ball of cotton wool, cork or tampon, or sliced fruits and vegetables

• provide powder water colors since these are more preferable than the usual watercolors because you can control the amount your children need

• make sure to keep the paints in small plastic containers which has a hole on top for the paint brush

• use plastic egg cartons as palettes

• add some liquid starch to thicken up the powder instead of adding extra powder or add liquid starch in a container and add some food coloring

If monitored properly, the art class theme can be the most memorable experience that your child as well as his or her friends or classmates could ever experience. Remember, it pays to have lots of patience when you use this theme because kids can be unruly if they start to have fun or mess around with the materials. When this happens, all you to do is to remind them subtly by telling them that they are in a party and they are not supposed to destroy the materials because the celebrator will be sad.

After the kids birthday party, you can give the artworks the children have made as souvenirs to one another or to their parents so these can be displayed on their respective houses.

Organize the Best Children’s Party - activities for kids birthday party

A lot of people are afraid to go about planning birthdays parties for their kids and would always look to other people to organize the best children’s party.

There are those willing to spend hundred of dollars, thinking that the best children’s party are the ones where a lot of money has been spent, the one with the most decorations, food or giveaways – but stop and wait a minute, that is how an adult would think, not the kid who will be celebrating his or her birthday.

But truth be told, the best birthday party is what you and your child would want to make it as the best birthday party ever – that is, by looking at a birthday party through the child’s eyes. Here are some tips to consider before throwing a children’s party and you will be surprised at what you may read and can even change your perception of how a children’s party should actually be.

First rule of thumb, your goal is to make the birthday celebrator happy and make the event feel special, for which many people commit the mistake of doing. Hoping to please others and making sure that everyone is guaranteed to have a good time is only secondary and of the last importance among your priorities.

For children, the best birthday party is the one they had the most fun with and will indeed remember, not the one that adults enjoyed or one that will ensure that you place remain clean even after the party. Give it to your child and ask him or her what she wants and what would make them happy, after all, their birthday only comes once every year so why not try to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.

Second rule of thumb, never attempt to run a party alone, get your husband to help, even members of your family or close friends, by assigning tasks and delegating functions for each and every one. Take note that children are a very restless and active lot, so no matter how airtight and solid your initial plan is, when the time comes to start the party, you can never do two or more things at the same time.

Surely, you cannot cut the cake while someone asks to go to the bathroom, or refill the goodie basket, while trying to host the party – not even Superman can do such a thing, so what makes you think you can do all the work? Dream on.

Third rule of thumb, remind your child to always maintain good manners regardless of whether it be the most special day for them. Kids, because of their innocence, could sometimes do the darnedest things and teaching them proper conduct during parties could make them understand that they must also mind their manners.

Things can unsuspectingly turn awry, especially for kids who may tend to make a remark about a friend or the way a guest dresses for the party, even comment that “I already have that toy in my room” when trying to open up presents in front of guests.

This can be a cause of embarrassment for you, so you might as well try to foresee things like this and you can orient or set expectations with your kid about how to conduct himself or herself properly. This can be done weeks before the party, that way it will still remain fresh in their minds about how to conduct themselves fairly during the party.

So take these rules of thumb to heart and surely, you will be able to organize the best children’s birthday party ever.

Kid's Birthday Party Tips

Putting up a kid's birthday party can take a lot of work. The success of the event depends on how well the preparations and the planning are made. Parents and other family members can always lend a hand and work together in order to make the occasion not only succeed but memorable as well. Here are some tips that may help make any kid's birthday party great, both for the parents and the celebrant.

When choosing for a theme of the party, it would be wise to get the birthday celebrant to choose. After all it would be his or her birthday party. Having the child choose what and how the birthday should come out can help the event more memorable to the kid. It may be the only time in a year that he or she might feel even more special.

Along with choosing the theme for the party, it can also be a good idea to have the celebrant choose whom to invite. It can help develop some sense of responsibility of making certain decisions at a young age. But the parents should also inform their child on certain limitations involved with the choices.  There are things such as budget that also the celebrant should know  about. To make things simple, parents can have the child choose a certain number of guests to be at his or her party.

For a kid's birthday party where the guests are kids usually under five years old, parents should also be included in the list of invitees as well. Some parents planning a party may sometimes overlook this and may find themselves having prepared for less people than what has arrived for the party. This can lead to a lot of headaches and stress later on.

It is also important for parents to consider the length of the party. Birthday parties for kids should not extend longer than the maximum two hours or so. That would be enough time to give the kids for some fun and enjoyable activities. Doing the  party longer than  that and parents risk facing kids who may have become restless and bored. Over stimulation can also lead youngsters to have tantrums that may be a cause to a ruined party.

At the birthday party itself, parents should try to create a program where the kids would have the time to enjoy and have fun. The younger the age of the kids, the more important this task would be. Prior to the start of the party, parents should try to provide the kids with something to do. Have them do some kind of quiet activity such as drawing, coloring books as well as with toys they can play while sitting. This can help keep them well occupied while the other guests arrive.

One other thing to bear in mind is that the kids at kid's birthday parties care more about the fun and the activities rather than the decorations and the food. Play is the most important part of the party for them. That is why the party program should include having fun and exciting games that the kids can play and participate in. it can be as simple as Musical Chairs or a Bring Me type of game.

What the kids will be looking for is a time to have fun with other kids and have the time of their lives.

Another good resource is research the theme over the internet, surely, you will find thousands of key details, profiles and any information related to the character your child wants to have for the party.

If you plan to conduct the party at home, make room to decorate it with items or backdrops related to the character or theme of the party.  For dining utensils, party packages like dining utensils, hats, costumes, decoration items and novelty items are available from party stores, which you can use for the party.

Lastly, you can try to prepare some of the food you hope to prepare, especially if you want to save money.

Kid's Birthday Party Planning Checklist

When planning a kid's birthday party, parents would carefully consider giving time to all the preparations needed. Aside from that they should also try to follow a timetable for the tasks to make sure that everything is organized and planned for very carefully. One of the best ways to do this is to come up with a birthday party checklist.

A birthday party checklist is important because it can help parents get their act together in a more organized manner. Having a checklist to follow can help them keep track of their tasks and try not to forget anything else important for the party. Here is a sample of the possible things that parents should include in the checklist three to four weeks before the actual event.

Three To Four Weeks Prior
There are some things that parents should consider doing three to four weeks before the birthday party. Most of them may affect the subsequent tasks later on. First of all, there is the birthday theme and décor to consider. This can be done with the help of the birthday celebrant to pick and decide the appropriate theme for the event.

After deciding on the theme, parents should now try to come up with the budget for the party to determine what and what they can afford to include. A general budget for the mean time would be fine. Next up would be to consider the number of guests that may be coming to the party. Again, this would greatly depend on the general budget the parents have come up with. It is also important to consider if the party is good enough to invite quite number of guests or limit the invitees to make the budget work.

It is also three to four weeks prior to the birthday party that parent should already be ordering the supplies needed for the party. This will include decorations, equipment, etc. Food and drinks as well as what would be included in the party menu should already be decided upon in order to complete the grocery list. Party invitations should also be made and then given out to the invitees. If there are guests that may come from far distances, early notice might even be necessary to allow them to prepare themselves.

Two Weeks Prior
Around two weeks before the birthday party, parents can also start ordering party favors that will be given out to the guests. When the games and other activities have already been planned out, buying the things needed to make them possible should also be undertaken. If the birthday party includes having a hosted program, parents should already try to search for places where things such as sound or film equipment can be rented. It may also be time to look for able volunteers that may help out during the party proper to make things go smoothly.

One Week Before Party
A week before the party is the time to do the general cleaning, if the party venue is the home. Parents should make sure to clear the living room or the backyard clear from possible hazards and obstacles. Safety is important especially if the party would involve children. Ordering the birthday cake can be done a week before the kid's birthday party.

It would also be time to buy some of the needed non-perishable food items and beverages. The candles and matches should also be made ready at about this time.

Kid's Birthday Party Planning Basics

A kid's birthday party requires sometime to plan. Parents should know better than to just leave it to someone else to do all the organizing. The mom's especially should try to have a hand in planning for their kid's birthday party since it is one of the special and memorable occasions that kids look forward to every year.

Simply by attending other kid's birthday parties, moms can have a pretty good idea of what will and what won't work on any kid's party. Moms especially should try to take this into consideration as they try to plan for their own kid's coming birthday party. And planning, moms would later realize really takes some time to plan.

In planning a kid's birthday party, it usually requires about four to five weeks of prior planning. There are just many things that need to be considered when planning for a birthday party, most especially if it is for children. Advanced planning would ensure that the party itself won't run into so many things that could go wrong. Here are some issues to consider during the planning process.

One of the main concerns when it comes to planning for a children's birthday party is to consider what theme to use for the said party. Every party should have a theme. It would make them not only memorable, but also provide the means to make the other aspects of the party come together, with something in common in between them. Picking a theme would not only be a matter of the parents, but most importantly of the birthday celebrant as well.

When picking out a theme, parents should try to consider what ideas their child may have. And since it is his or her birthday party, surely that the first choice would belong to the celebrant. Whether it may be a grand birthday party of a fairly simple one, it will mean a lot to the child to also have some inputs that parents give importance to. That simple gesture alone can make such a birthday party special.

Parents can let their child choose a theme that he or she wants for the party. This might include using the child's favorite color or even the kid's favorite cartoon character or superhero. This will help make the birthday party become more personal.

Once a theme for the birthday party has been decided upon by the parents and the birthday celebrant, all the other aspects may now be considered. First off, there is the venue for the party to decide upon. Then there is the menu that may need to fit into the appetites of the guests. And there are also invitations to send out. There are quite a lot of other things still to consider in planning for a kid's birthday party. This is the reason why it may take quite some weeks of preparation and planning prior to the actual date.

There are still other things to consider besides those mentioned above. There is the case of finding the right party host for the program. There are also party games which might also require some careful planning. Just by looking at what is required when planning for a kid's birthday party, many parents would consider it as a tough job.

But it’s the least they could do to make their child feel special on his or her special occasion that comes only once every year.

Kid’s Birthday Parties Should be Fun for Kids

Latest research reveals that an average of 95 percent of American kids under 10 years have celebrated a birthday party and can tell you outrightly that kid’s birthday parties should be fun for kids.

But how can a kid’s birthday party be fun and exciting?

Here is a list of some ideas from party experts and ecstatic mothers that can surely make your kid’s birthday party a success. Allow a kid to plan a party for kids.

Do not take this idea literally and leave a child to plan alone for the party, instead, what it means is that to get a child involved in the planning process. A child’s concept of fun is a primary ingredient in planning for a successful party, especially since they are the main focus of the party itself.

Do away with the concept of making your own rules for the party or aiming to have the house remain clean even after the party. But with a child involved in the planning process, not only will you get good ideas for kids to enjoy, but you can also get that bargaining edge and get their cooperation for things that you may want to keep in order during the party.

Second, plan for a manageable party.

Try to limit the number of guests by considering the ratio of child –to –adult ratio, especially when trying to manage the party itself. Do take note that children are an active and restless lot and having some adults along, especially parents of the guests, may prove helpful in times of disorder and active play.

Also you may try to plan for activities involving parent and child, that way, everybody in the party can also have fun.

Third, it would be best to have a theme for the party.

Popular themes, be it favorite characters of the birthday child from a cartoon show, a book or a comic hero – it will create a more interesting and creative way to celebrate the party.

Kid’s birthday parties are intended to be fun and creative, so decorating the house with a themed backdrop or guests asked to come in costume, could be a fun and exciting way to drive interest among the kids and have them enjoy activities as well.

Fourth, always keep the children busy.

Kids enjoy it most when they are preoccupied with activities and games that will keep them moving around and have them spend their energy on the games and activities, rather than have them sit down and get bored for the whole duration of the party.

Keeping the party to a maximum of one hour should be enough, since you will also need the time to tidy up after the party. Think about it, the shorter the party time, the less mess you will likely clean up after the party.

Plan for more activities, instead of just having enough party games during the event. If you have time for 3 games, make it a point to think of two more events as a contingency plan.

There are certain activities that may be too tiring to conduct after a previous one, so with a contingency event ready, you may be able to make the necessary changes whenever necessary.

Lastly, have fun.

After all, this is the ultimate end for the birthday party, so make the most out of it and enjoy. So, by now you know that kid’s birthday parties should be fun for kids.

Kiddie Birthday Party Games For Less Than $5

A kiddie birthday party is not complete if it does not have games. If you haven’t planned this yet, here are a few you can try and the best part is that the materials you need won’t cost you over $5.

The first game that comes to mind is 20 questions. The questions you ask can be on just about anything but if you want to make this special for the birthday celebrant, write down 20 questions about this person on 20 cards.

To make it simple, make sure that the questions can be answered simply by a yes or no. Whoever gets the most number of correct answers, wins the game. This game can be played by kids age 6 and up. It won’t even cost you a penny since you can write questions on old paper and then get rid of it after.

Kids who are 3 years old can already play the game called Bingo. You just have to buy the set that costs between $2 to $5.

We all grew up playing the game musical chair so your kids should do the same. For this game, you need a few chairs and a disc player. The mechanics of this game has not changed so it is easy for the kids of this generation to get the hang of it. Just like the first game, you don’t need to buy anything for them to enjoy this game.

Another free game that will be great for the kiddie birthday party is the guessing game. As the host, you give out clues and then let the contestants figure out what you are describing.  A similar game to this that will also use old paper and a pen is Pictionary.

“Bring Me” is another game that the kids can play. Whoever is able to bring the most stuff to the host is the winner.

There have been a lot of variations of the game Pin the Tail. These days, it does not have to even be a tail. You can draw a picture or cut one out of magazine and have people try to pin a nose or a tail to the picture. Whoever is able to pin it the closest is the winner. The cost for this game is $5.

Tug of War is another option. All you need is some rope and after dividing the contestants into two groups, whoever is able to pull the other team to a certain boundary wins.

Another cute game is by handing out water balloons to two teams and then having each one throw the balloon to the other team members. To make the game more challenging, the distance that the balloon is thrown get farther and whoever breaks the balloon loses. Your cost for this watery game ranges from $2 to $5.

There are many other kiddie birthday party games that you can let the kid’s play that happen to be better than Wii or any other electronic game. While some won’t cost you a thing, there are some games that will require you to spend some money. When planning the games, make sure you have enough prizes to give away.

This should include consolation prices for those who did not win so everyone goes home happy.

How to Choose a Kiddie Birthday Party Theme

If your kid’s birthday party is coming up and when you want him or her to have fun with their friends, then by all means, throw a kiddie birthday party. Since every party must have a theme, you should think about that carefully since your décor and birthday cake is riding on it.

When choosing a birthday party theme, it is best to get everyone involved including your kid. The circumstances are different of course if this is a surprise party. If they do know, then they should help out in the planning so talk to them in a way they understand and let them decide what the theme should be.

For parents who are throwing a kiddie party for a boy, it will probably be something like Batman, Superman or one of those masculine superheroes. It could even be Peter Pan or any other Disney character. If you have girl, it could be Cinderella or one of those Princess’ so your list of options are not that long.

Once you have figured that out, it is time to shop for the décor that will be used in the party. Go online, visit the mall and drop by some party specialty stores. Aside from the hats or the décor that you will be hanging on the wall, don’t forget that the theme should also be on the birthday cake.

If you don’t know yet what your theme will be, ask for help or brainstorm among your friends and then present this to your kid. Look at their reaction because they may not say they want it out loud but you can see how excited they are when you look in their eyes.

Do you need to get a second opinion regarding your kiddie birthday party theme? The answer is no. That is your decision and people will just have to accept it.

Before you go to far ahead with the theme of your birthday party, make sure that this is within your budget. In these hard times, no one can afford to just throw money around so you also have to play it smart and do some price comparisons before buying things that will be used for the party.

Everything else will be easy when you already have a theme for the kiddie birthday party. The only thing you have to do now is pick out a venue, send out the invitations, plan what food will be served, confirm who is coming and then set up the décor.

All of these details should be done at least a month or two in advance so that you can plan everything to the last detail rather than panicking when it is a week or two away and there is a big possibility that you could forget something.

Every kiddie birthday party must have a theme and it does not matter what it is.  The important thing is that this is something you and your kid want because this is their special day. Don’t forget to take lots of picture and even record a video because this is a one time event that you don’t want to miss.

If you had a challenging time thinking of the kiddie birthday party theme this year, just imagine what will happen the next year since you will have to go through it all over again. Is it worth it? Oh yes especially when this puts a smile on your kid’s face.

How Kid’s Birthday Parties are Celebrated Worldwide

We celebrate kid’s birthday parties with fun, but have you ever known how kid’s birthday parties are celebrated worldwide?

We can take a quick trip around the world to find out how people from major parts of the world celebrate birthdays and how they practice it in general. In the United States and many other parts of the world, we commonly celebrate kid’s birthday parties with themes of choice by the one celebrating his or her birthday.

It is a common practice to have the party at home, with decorations set up in place and common party fare includes cakes, candies, soda, hotdogs, marshmallows and other treats children enjoy. Games are played during the course of the party where guests participate and win prizes at the same time.

This is also a similar practice throughout the Western world and is one of the most awaited party activity for kids all over. In Africa, there is a tribe in Ghana that celebrate the birth of their children on the day of the week they were born.

They call it Krada which means ‘soul day’ as their way of giving tribute to the creator for giving them the gift of a child – another soul added to their family. Most tribes or communities do not celebrate the birth of their children and common celebrations only involve tribes -people celebrating the manhood of children, as they are ushered in to adulthood through certain rituals and traditional practices.

In the Middle East, specifically in Egypt, children’s birthdays are commonly celebrated with singing and dancing with the party venue decorated with fruits and flowers, which symbolizes life and growth as the years go on for those celebrating their birthdays.

However, people do not traditionally celebrate birthdays as part of their religious practice. In Israel, food is also prepared with guests invited to attend from family, friends and neighbors. The highlight if the party is to have the one celebrating the birthday sit on a chair adorned with fresh flowers as guests gather around the chair offering prayers and well wishes to the celebrator.

In Great Britain, birthday parties are also held in homes with food and drinks prepared for guests. The British practice their tradition of celebrating the birthday by sending out birthday cards to the birthday celebrator, a tradition that was begun more than a hundred years ago.

As part of their cultural tradition, an Irish child celebrates his or her birthday by gently getting hit on the floor of the home by family and friends on the day of his or her birthday. The Danish people, on the other hand, celebrate birthdays by expressing their love for their country as well.

The Danish proudly raise their county’s flag outside their home whenever somebody in the house celebrates a birthday. Russians, on the other hand, also celebrate birthdays with food and drinks, but the only difference is, they do not prepare cakes but would rather have pies.

In China, a child celebrating his or her birthday receives money as a gift from his parents, who in turn, pay his respects to them as tradition dictates. Family and friends are invited over for lunch, where noodles are served, which symbolizes productivity and long life.

In India, a birthday child is showered with colorful dresses and chocolates and the home decorated with colorful balloons and shredded colored paper. If it is a school day when the child celebrates a birthday, the birthday child gets to wear a colorful garment and passes out chocolates to friends and classmates.

Now you know how kid’s birthday parties are celebrated all over the world and who knows, you may be able to get an idea from these and innovate your upcoming birthday party for your child.

Having A Good Kid's Birthday Party

Kid's birthday parties should be fun and enjoyable. That is what makes them memorable. All those smiles on the children's faces, most especially on the birthday celebrant can be quite memorable and a priceless gift that parents can give to their kids. Preparing for such parties can take some work.

There are some things that people have to consider when planning kid's birthday party. Whether it be a grand birthday bash or just a simple affair, the preparations and the planning that go into it can affect how it will fare out. When organizing a kid's birthday party, here are some valuable tips that might help ensure things would come out all right.

Before planning a kid's birthday party, the main organizers (usually the parents) should come up with a planned budget. All the preparations needed for the party would depend on how much the parents will be willing to spend. There is no sense in planning for a grand birthday party when the parents would not likely to afford a ll the expenses.

After the budget has been agreed upon, the next thing on the agenda would usually be the theme for the birthday party. This might not be too much of a problem (maybe except on the expense side) since the celebrant would have the first say. Parents can only suggest the available choices. It is important that the birthday celebrant has the right to choose. It is his or her special day after all.

After the theme, choosing a venue would be the next thing to consider. There are various choices available for parents. The simplest one would be having the party right at home. The home would provide the most ideal venue where parents and organizers may be able to have a bit more control over what happens during the party. What's more, a birthday party at home usually is less expensive than having it anywhere else.

But if a child has one too many birthday parties at home, then another venue may be considered. Having an outside venue for a birthday party may carry with it some excitement and several other means for kids to have fun. A good venue would be the local gym, a pizza parlor, or even at the miniature golf course. That would certainly add up some fun factor to any birthday party. The only disadvantage to such venues is that it can add up to a considerable expense for the organizers of the party.

Parents and organizers of the party should also consider the weather when planning an outdoor party. There can be times when it may not be as cooperative. A sudden rain shower can ruin even the most beautiful outdoor birthday party in just an instant. When planning an kid's birthday party out of doors, parent should try to check the weather conditions more frequently.

It would be  better to ensure that this would not be a problem by having the kid's birthday party indoors. But if it is out of the question, it also pays to prepare for the unforeseen weather related events beforehand. Having an alternative venue nearby or just having umbrellas on hand may help. It is such measures that may help salvage an otherwise ruined kid's birthday party.

Weighing the risks involved may help prevent making the wrong decisions later on.

Friendship Bracelets as a Souvenir during Kids Birthday Parties

Aside from the food, souvenirs are one of the most anticipated items that children look forward to when attending kids birthday parties. If you are a parent who is thinking of what souvenir your child can give out to his or her friends during the birthday party, then consider home-made friendship bracelets.

If you don’t have much of an artistic knack, the most simple thing that you can come up with is an elastic friendship bracelet as a souvenir. These are bangles or "wristlets" that are used as a piece of fashion accessory but in this case, these can be worn by your child's friends to symbolize their friendship.

The good thing about this is that it will not only help you save money by buying cheap materials for the bracelet but can also serve as a bonding activity for you and your child. Aside from that, the process of making the bracelet itself is fun and easy.

While doing the items, you can squeeze out the creative juice in your child and encourage him or her to explore different possibilities of the craft. This very activity can also help him or her to be thoughtful to people the he or she cares about.

What you need to do

Before doing this activity, the first thing that you need to do is to ask your child if he or she wants the home-made friendship bracelet as a souvenir to be given after her birthday party. If she or he agrees, then make sure that the child will be a part of the entire process such as choosing the materials, the designs, as well as the dominant colors to be used.

The first step in making the friendship bracelet is to buy the supplies needed which include sets of colorful beads of your or your child's choice, elastic nylon string, a pair of scissors, glue gun, pieces of glue stick, tape measure or ruler, and a round nose pliers if you choose to add locks and other metal items in the bracelet. You can find old stuff in your house or buy these in the crafts store nearby.

Once you have all the materials that you need, ask your child to segregate pieces of beads according to his or her preference. Or to make the process faster, you can segregate bead pieces by yourself. Next is to come up with a bracelet design and draw in on a piece of paper. Here, you can ask your child to come up with his or her design and incorporate it with yours.

After which, get the elastic nylon. Using a tape measure or a ruler cut the string according to your desired length with a pair of scissor. Then, gather the beads that your have segregated and selected earlier and start stringing the beads into the elastic string. After that, knot the two ends of the string after you threaded the beads in it. Make sure to tie the final knot twice so it will not loosen up. Cut the excess nylon string using a scissor.

To make sure that the ends would not loosen up, you can put glue on the knots and flatten it with round nose pliers. You now have unique souvenirs that you can give out during kids birthday parties.

Foods for Kids Birthday Parties - food for kids birthday party

Aside from the games and prizes, one of the things that children look forward to when attending kids birthday parties is the food. This is because kids get to eat whatever they want when they are out of the house since these are the only ones available for their consumption.

If you are one of those parents who are having a hard time what food to prepare during kids birthday parties, here are some of the foods that you can use as a guide. Remember, if you are planning for the menu of the party, you have to give utmost consideration to the taste buds of children since they will be the ones who will consume most of the food that will be prepared in the party. To ensure that they will enjoy the food, make a menu that include the usual foods that children love to eat such as cake, ice cream, chicken, pasta, cookies, barbeque, and cupcakes. For adult guests, you can make a separate menu for them to ensure that they won't get hungry when you serve them kids foods.

Tips in selecting and preparing foods for the menu

For parents, choosing foods that will be prepared to their kids birthday party can be a daunting task. This is because there is the pressure that the guests—especially the kids—will not like the foods that will be served to them. To make food and menu preparation easy for parents, here are some tips that can help you get by:

1. Try to prepare the most favorite foods of your child. Since he or she is the "boss" for the day, the child has a say in the list of foods that can be served during the party. It is best for parents to ask their kids what are the foods they have in mind before making the final menu. Asking the child what she or he would want to eat during the party will also give you an idea what other kids might like to eat. You can also ask your child directly what he or she thinks are the foods that his or her classmates and friends will enjoy. From the child's response, you can get a consensus what to prepare.

2. Look for new recipes that kids might enjoy. You can do this by surfing the Internet and looking for websites that can link you to new recipes that kids enjoy today. You can also but food magazines so you will have an idea how to prepare and present the foods.

3. Try to serve healthy meals. Since kids will be the ones who will eat most of the foods, try to serve them items that have nutritional value. Although it might seem impossible, you can do this by cooking the dishes by yourself and substituting healthier ingredients to the most common foods that kids eat.

4. Always make a good presentation. Most of the children that attend kids birthday parties are easily drawn to eye candies. This is why it is very important to make a good presentation when it comes to the foods that will be served during the party. Make sure that you take time off to make good food presentations so everything will look and taste good in the eyes of the children.

Face Painting as Surefire Hit during Kids Birthday Parties

During kids birthday parties, one of the most fun and exciting activities that parents can come up with is a face painting session. This is because kids love being painted with their favorites characters and roam around the party venue with face paints.

Experts say that face painting is surefire hit among kids during birthday parties but not so much to parents who are clueless about it. If you are one of those clueless parents who would want to have face painting sessions during the birthday party of his or her child, then now is the best time to conduct research about it.

Today, there are so many face painting artists that can be hired for kids birthday parties. But if you think that you have the artistic knack, then you can try doing it by yourself. If you plan to do the face painting sessions by yourself, the first thing that you need to understand is that face painting children is probably one of the most challenging yet rewarding tasks out there. Despite being a tiresome task especially for overly enthusiastic kids who can't wait to see the finish product, face-painting children can help you gain patience and skill in doing the artwork quickly.

In face painting children, major considerations should be identified in order to avoid the possibility of accidents and allergic reactions. If you are face painting children, in a kids birthday party, make sure that before you begin with any session, you were able to inform the parents first about the whole thing. This is like asking for permission if they would allow their child to have their face painted during the event.

By briefly talking to the parents, you can also ask if the child has allergic reactions to chemicals or if they have skin allergies. Make sure that you don’t face paint a child that has open wounds, cuts, or rashes on the face or in any part of his or her body. This will lessen the possibility of developing infection and more complicated skin condition.

After making sure that you have no problems with the child's skin, you should start getting the prepared materials to be used. In face painting children, it is very important to use safe materials because their skin is more sensitive compared to adults. In choosing paints for kids, make sure that you use only water-based watercolors that can be easily wiped off or cleansed with water and little gentle soap.

To avoid any allergic reactions, always use face paints that have passed under FDA's standard for cosmetics. Never ever use acrylic paints because these will only cause allergies and even skin disorder when used in large amounts especially in sensitive areas of the face and other parts of the body.

Aside from using safe paints, one thing you need to know about face painting children during kids birthday party is that you must have lots of handy brushes and sponges that you can use. It is best to designate a brush for each color to lessen the chances of cleaning it. You must also have enough water supplies in convenient water bottle so you can dab the brush or sponge once they need cleaning.

A Stress Free Kids Birthday Party

Organizing a kids birthday party should not that be stressful for you for as long as you will know what to do. To help parents organize simple yet successful birthday parties for their kids, here are some tips for you:

1. Determine the theme. The theme of the party will greatly depend on the age of the child. For one year olds, it is best to have a theme that everyone can relate to. In short, you can come up with a general theme such as your kid's favorite character or TV show and the like. For older kids, you can ask them what they want for their party. If they have not decided yet, suggest kiddie themes such as Harry Potter theme, Pirates theme or Cowboys' theme for the boys. For the girls, you can suggest Fairy theme or Princess theme. Once you were able to come up with the theme, the rest of the steps will follow.

2. Estimate how many people, including kids, in your guest list. This is the next best thing to do after the theme. You can start with the immediate family members, cousins, uncles and aunties, grandparents, god parents. Then, the friends of your child in the neighborhood and his or her classmates if he or she is already in school. Knowing how many people will be attending will give you an idea how big the party that you need to prepare is.

3. Find a fitting venue. For some parents, their home is the most fitting venue for small parties. But if there will be many guests, it is best to find a location where everybody can move freely. You can consider the nearby theme park or a playhouse inside a mall for the location. In choosing a venue, always take note of the convenience of the attendees, wherein majority of which is kids.

4. Set the time. Most birthday parties are usually set in the afternoon when everybody has rested. But, depending on the availability of your guests as well as of the venue, you can schedule it earlier, like before lunchtime or during lunch itself.

5. Do the invitation and send it in advance. You can make your own invitations that bears the motif of the theme or you can buy ready made ones from craft stores. The most important thing is that you have sent it in advance so they the parents of the attendees can arrange their schedules.

6. Call parents of the children to be invited. This is also one good way of knowing how many attendees will be there and if there are necessary preparations for the child guest.

7. List down the foods you can prepare. Depending on the number of guests, you can make a tentative list of the foods to be prepared. In the menu, make sure to make the selections children-friendly.

8. Make a list of supplies and decorations needed. This is also important so you won't have to cram when the day comes. If possible, decorate the venue a day ahead so you won't have to worry about it when the date comes.

9. Create a program flow. Young attendees during kids birthday parties can be unruly. To maintain orderliness, try to come up with a program so they will know what to do.

Kiddie Birthday Party Checklist

Your kiddie birthday party is a big deal so make sure you plan everything ahead of time so nothing is left out. To do that, it will be a good idea to make a checklist which you must follow until the event is finally over.

Planning for the kiddie birthday party must be done a month or two in advance. You can start by thinking already where will the party be held, who will be invited, what is the theme of the party, what time will this be held and how long will be party be.

Since this is your kid’s party, let them get involved with the decision making. If they wish to have the party held in their favorite restaurant, so be it. Go to the restaurant and reserve the place. Just hope that no one has reserved the date and the time because if you do, you will have to reschedule everything.

The advantage of having a kiddie party done in a restaurant is that you don’t have to worry about the decorations, activities, prizes and the other details. If the restaurant does this on a regular basis, they already have a program prepared and all you have to do is choose the package which already includes the food that will be served.

Let’s say your kid does not want to have the party in a restaurant and instead want to have this done at home. If that is the case, you will have to start planning based on theme the décor you will be using, the prizes that will be handed out, the activities that will be done and the food that will be served.

There are many advantages of having the kiddie birthday party done at home. You don’t have to make a reservation since the place is yours, it is your decision what food to be served and you get to decide how long will the party last.  Parties held in restaurants are usually over in two to three hours and that is a bit short for those who want to stay longer.

Two to three weeks before the kiddie party, you should have already sent out the invitations to all your guests. Make sure there you put your contact number so the guests can confirm if they can make it or not.

If there are a few other details that have not yet been taken cared of, you better get help from your friends and relatives.

A week or two before the party, already order the cake from the store if you don’t plan to make it yourself. Again, let your kid help out by letting him choose how the cake should look like because this is their birthday cake.

For those who plan to serve home made food, make sure this is done ahead of time then stored in the freezer. You wouldn’t want to cram a day before since that is going to very difficult.

The day before the party, buy film and charge the video camera. Confirm with people who you invited if they are attending or not. If this is done at home, decorate the place the night before.

On the day of the kiddie birthday party, bring out the food and just have fun with your kid and all of those you invited.

Choosing Kiddie Birthday Party Food - kids birthday party food

So you are planning a kiddie birthday party. One thing you should pay a lot of attention on is the food that you will serve. It should be easy to make and something that both kids and adults will enjoy eating which could be a snack or a meal in itself.

If the venue of the party is at home, it is okay to serve food like friend chicken, barbecue, pizza, pasta, hotdogs, cookies and burgers. You can also serve some appetizers as well like chips, cookies, nachos, peanuts and pretzels.

Don’t forget to offer refreshments such as juice, water and soda. As for dessert, make sure there is plenty of ice cream and cake.

While some may consider this a light snack and not a meal, the kids and even the parents will keep coming back for more since it is free so chances are they won’t eat anything anymore by the time they go home.

Now most of these items you can buy from the store while there are others that you can do at home. Do you order it or make it? That is the question you have to ask yourself and this depends on how much time you have to do the work and your budget.

For parents who want to let the kids make their own meals, prepare a table with all the ingredients and then just let do what they want. This can work for those who are serving burgers and pizza so the kids can choose from the different toppings that are available.

But won’t buying too much from a restaurant or preparing it yourself lead to a lot of wastage? Not really because a lot of smart parents give some away the end of the party. They also finish the rest in the coming days by putting these treats as part of their kid’s lunches.

However, if you do decide to have a party in a restaurant, the only thing you have to do is select from the different packages that are being offered and make a rough estimate of how many people will attend.

Should your kid have a favorite restaurant; it is only natural to have the kiddie birthday party there. Make sure you order what they like and a few other things since you are not ordering for just a handful of people but a large group.

If you are having a hard time choosing what to offer, see if the restaurant can let you taste some for free. If this is not the case, just order the said items on one of your visits.

As for leftovers, bring home some and then give a few away. That way, there won’t be so much excess food in your refrigerator which will just go to waste if you are not able to consume it.

Should the restaurant where the party will be held does not offer a complimentary birthday cake, make sure you get one because this is the highlight of the event when you light the candle and your kid makes his or her birthday wish.

Aside from the games and the prizes, you should also plan what food to serve during the kiddie party. The key to choosing what to serve is simplicity because it does not take much to satisfy those little hungry stomachs even if it is just a light snack.
